Three Conversions

There have been three relatively recent conversions to our Lutheran confession of the faith from other communions of Christianity: people whom we would consider to be “influencers.”

Javier Perdomo is a former Baptist, whose eponymous YouTube channel specializes in refuting Roman Catholic apologists. His videos are compelling, and he has interviewed many confessional Lutherans, including the Rev. William Weedon, the Rev. Dr. Steve Parks, the Rev. Joshua Schooping, the Rev. Andrew Abraham, Mr. Michael Potamopotos, and the Rev. Dr. John Bombaro.

Mr. Perdomo’s interview style is unrushed and laid back, and he allows the interviewee to tell his story.

Hopefully, he will get around to telling his own story, as he and his wife joined an LCMS congregation in September, 2024.

Megan is half of the duo of Jacque and Megan at the YouTube Channel Let’s Talk About It. She is a former Non-Denominational Christian, and her friend Jacque is a Roman Catholic. Their channel is a friendly compare and contrast between their faith traditions. They are both devout and committed, have a good chemistry, and both strive to accurately be able to explain the theology and practice of the other.

Megan and her husband recently joined an LCMS congregation.

Dr. Fernando Casanova is a former highly-touted Spanish-speaking Roman Catholic lay theologian, convert from Pentecostalism, and Roman Catholic apologist from Puerto Rico. After a lot of prayer and study, he too was recently instructed and joined an LCMS congregation - which sent out shock waves in Roman Catholic circles.

There is a language barrier, as I don’t think Dr. Casanova speaks English, but it would be a blessing if he could tell his story through a translator.

We are grateful when thinking Christians examine the Word of God and discover the pure confession of the Gospel and Sacraments, and are willing to publicly confess and tell their stories. Hopefully, we will see more of the same.
