GOD SAVE THE KING! LONG LIVE THE KING!

With due apologies to US brethren regrettably fed a sorry diet of woefulmisinformation concerning the late Good King George of happy memory who was the very opposite of a tyrant, I herewith post Fr Kurt’s expected poem on last Saturday’s glorious event. As Canadian Monarchists of long standing, Brother Reinhardt and I are over the top right now.

While joyful church bells peeling ring.

Let all his loyal people say,

“God save the king! Long live the king!

Anointed over us today.”

O King of kings who rule on high,

Bless Charles our king before Your face,

Upon whose head the crown does lie,

That he might serve us in Your place.

You’ve cloaked him with Your majesty,

To give to all an earthly sign

Of Your supreme authority,

That governs all with pow’r Divine.

You’ve placed Your sceptre in his hand

And given him Your rod of might;

With fairness may he rule our land,

E’er mindful of Your watchful sight.

Your sword You’ve girded on his waist,

Grant him to bear it not in vain;

May he defend our laws with haste,

That under him Your peace may reign.

Lord give him wisdom, keep him true,

Let Your Word be his faithful guide,

That he may ever bow to You

Until You take him to Your side.
