The Federalist addresses Dr. Schulz's dismissal from CUW

The Federalist has gotten a hold of the Schulz story. I was recently told by a friend, who says he loves Schulz to bits and holds him in the highest regard, that this story has two sides. I am sure that is true, but the administration is silent. Their only response seems be a plea that we trust them and the “process.” What Joy Pullman’s excellent article below adds, which I had not seen before, is a bit of perspective from Dr. Angus Menuge, the chair of the Philosophy department and a man of impeccable reputation, himself, in a sense, a part of the administration. Presumably, he knows both sides of the story better even than my friend. Here is what Pullman reports about it:

“I have since contacted the president and asked him to reconsider and I have received no response whatsoever,” Menuge told The Federalist by phone on March 4. Menuge described the suspension as “extraordinarily draconian” and “Kafka-esque” because of not only the reasons Schulz was suspended but also how it was managed.

“Are we being told that you have to mute your Christianity so that it conforms to these ideologies of niceness and all of it? If so, that has a chilling effect on not only academic freedom but also on the Christian conscience,” Menuge said.

For my part, I think it is well worth the risk. Sign the petition.
