Sunlight Pours In Through Stained Glass

screen-shot-2015-06-26-at-9.34.59-pm.jpg

A person on a Facebook group reported receiving a flyer from an ELCA congregation in Wisconsin:

Sunlight pours in through stained-glass windows as worshipers exchange greetings before Sunday service. And then... boom! Hot rock’n’roll music, cranked out by our gifted (congregation name) musicians, beckons the crowd as they make their way down to the aisle, shouting and singing — all in tribute to Christ.

Of course, at 9 a.m. organ and brass shake the rafters, but our contemporary worship service at 10:30 makes us wild with hope and free in love. It’s driven by free-flowing, heart-pounding music that’s gonna move you. And there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

Au contraire, every seat is a bad seat in the house.

If you’re sending out mailings that sound like an ad for a creepy rave club marketed by J. Peterman, you’re probably not really a church.

As the kids say, “Just sayin’.”
