The Horsemen Are Riding

War. Chaos. Economic turmoil. Famine. Pestilence. Death.

The horsemen are riding.

Now, one would think that if these things that cause such devastation were coming that it would spark some sort of response from the ones being terrorized. But that’s not the case. Instead, most continue in anger and apathy. Others cling ever more fervently to their idols of climate change, government, media, and pharmaceuticals.

Every day this summer news outlets have pushed record heat and droughts. Lake Mead is shrinking. A major water source in China is drying up. You don’t have to search long before you see these clips or articles.

Don’t go too much further, and you’ll see that COVID is still being pushed as the most deadly thing on earth—even though the infallible CDC recommends treating it like any other flu with isolation at this point.

Scroll a bit further, and you’ll see that Putin still has war going in Ukraine. How are you to feel about that? Well, the god “Media” will tell you!

But Christians with a knowledge of the Scriptures know not to fear. The horsemen are riding just as they have done before and certainly will again. In response, we don’t cling to the false gods to which the world clings, for this only makes things worse. Remaining in idolatry will only cause the lengthening of the punishment. We must have learned nothing from a pandemic! The horsemen go forth, yet many continue to run to the government and others with no thought of our loving Father in heaven who ultimately controls it all.

It’s true. Some in the world are facing drought which causes famine. Others are facing record inflation which is leading to shortages. The first thought and act must be to repent. Then we must pray on behalf of the world. If we aren’t interceding for the world, no one will.

Nothing that we’re facing in this day and age is novel. Search the Scriptures and see it before. It was so with Joseph and Egypt. It happened in the days of Elijah during the evil reign of Ahab. The world will continue in its godlessness, but we must repent of our sin and return to the Lord and wait patiently for the day of salvation—for those who endure to the end will be saved.
