A Gottesdienst note. Doing ok, but needing help . . .
The trouble is that we don't have much expertise in the matter of drumming up support. We think we can do theology and liturgy pretty well, because that's our training and lifelong pursuit. But technical stuff, not so much. We don't have a business department in a vast set of offices in a high-rise building in some major metropolitan center. Nope, there's just a few of us and maybe a few volunteers to help here and there.
Thankfully, this isn't so on the content side, where we have a good number of editors, bloggers, and others. We still engage routinely in defending the Lutheran liturgy, the Blessed Sacrament in its proper setting, the Gospel in its beauty, and the best in Christian tradition to surround and uphold that beauty. Substantively, therefore, we think we're doing pretty well, as you can see for yourself. The print journal is in its 29th year with no end in sight; the blog is active almost daily; the podcast keeps chugging along apace, we have other helpful resources available too. Did you know we have a liturgical library, a wedding manual, a training video, and a liturgical calendar? In the matter of what we do, as ever, Gottesdienst is on the move.
So then, we're sending this memo because we could use your help on the business and technical side. That is, with some extra financial support, we can keep the cost of our subscriptions low, and keep the other stuff all free. And our incentive remains in play: a $50 donation will get you an item from our online bookstore, of your choice. Just let us know what you want.
A $200 donation will still get you any item in our store PLUS a lifetime subscription to Gottesdienst.
So, here's the point: can you help a little? the donating links are here, and there's also the option of becoming a patron.
Thank you!
