Gottesdienst

For a few dollars more . . .

Maybe you'll find this odd, as in, what in the world does Clint Eastwood have to do with Gottesdienst? In preparing the header for this mailing, we were reminded of the old Eastwood flick of  the same name, and admit to having some nostalgic memories of the good old days when movies didn't always have to be screened for acceptability to people with a bit of a moral compass. Alas, Hollywood has changed.

And so, it seems, has most everything  these days. Especially in 2020. Such an odd and troublesome year it has been. First a pandemic, then unrest and riots in cities across America. To say people are concerned is probably a gross understatement.

But here's a bright spot: Gottesdienst has not changed. As you likely know, we've been producing a robust defense of the Lutheran liturgy, the Blessed Sacrament in its proper setting, the Gospel in its beauty, and the best in Christian tradition to surround and uphold that beauty, since the early 1990s.  We started this project in 1992, almost 30 years ago. And today we are doing exactly the same thing.

Our platform has changed a bit: we now have a robust online presence, with routine blogging and podcasts, and a beefed up web site with a liturgical bibliography, a wedding manual, our annual liturgical calendar, and our widely appreciated Divine Service Training Video for pastors and seminarians. But still we trumpet the same defense, the same liturgy, the same Gospel. We have always sought first of all to remain faithful, knowing that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Which is why we are bold to ask you again for a few dollars more. We need your help to keep doing this. So very much of our support comes from volunteer donations, which enable us to keep the cost of our subscriptions low, and the availability of our blogs, resources, and podcasts free.

Please help! And here's some incentive: A $50 donation will get you an item from our online bookstore, of your choice. Just let us know what you want!

A $200 donation will get you any item in our store PLUS a lifetime subscription to Gottesdienst.

Thank you!
